The name behind the work
On Identity
Felicia Faber is a pseudonym—or performance art, if you prefer. An assumed identity for a project about the fluidity of identity itself. I chose the name to protect my privacy from casual investigation, a small veil between creator and creation.
On the Name
I chose the name with a small bit of theatrical fancy and superstition. Felicia from felix, meaning luck. Faber for maker. My hope is that the name will imbue my creations with good fortune.
It also doesn't hurt that Felicia is a pretty name.
On the Person
She is entirely made up. I, the person behind her name, am not she. Felicia is a mask, a vessel, a convenient fiction through which to pour stories about transformation and becoming.
Any resemblance to a real individual by similar name is entirely incidental.
